Our Story: Curiosity on the Move
The Wonder Bus began with a simple belief: children learn best through play, curiosity, and hands-on exploration. Created by a certified educator, The Wonder Bus was inspired by a desire to make high-quality, play-based learning experiences more accessible to children and families. By transforming a school bus into a mobile children’s museum, we are working to bring meaningful, joyful learning opportunities directly into communities — creating spaces where children can imagine, explore, create, and grow through play.

The Mind Behind the Magic

Sarah Hansen
Owner, Operator,
& Lead Educator
I bring 14 years of teaching experience to The Wonder Bus, including 6 years as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher, 7 years teaching Junior Kindergarten, and 1 year in Kindergarten. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about creating learning environments where every child feels included, capable, and excited to explore and learn.

Education and family are at the heart of The Wonder Bus. My mom, who has taught PreK, Jr. K, and Kindergarten for 40 years, will be joining the journey in retirement to help support and grow this vision. My dad helped lead the construction of the bus interior and taught me everything I know about power tools — making this truly a family-built dream. My four kids (and two dogs!) have been by my side through the whole process- from helping design a logo and website to helping me curate materials for the bus- they've been my biggest cheerleaders and can't wait to be the first ones to play onboard!
Â
My teaching philosophy is simple: all children learn best through open-ended, engaging, hands-on, cooperative play experiences, and The Wonder Bus was created to bring those opportunities to more children in our region.
Our Dream
Our dream is to create a mobile children’s museum that brings high-quality, hands-on learning experiences directly into communities. We envision a future where every child has access to joyful, engaging opportunities to explore, create, and learn through play. The Wonder Bus is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and create meaningful childhood memories through wonder-filled experiences.
Our Why
We believe children learn best through open-ended, hands-on, cooperative play. The Wonder Bus was created to help remove barriers to access by bringing children’s museum-quality experiences directly to families, schools, and communities. Every child deserves opportunities to explore, imagine, problem-solve, and grow through meaningful play experiences.
One-of-a-Kind
The Wonder Bus is more than a play space — it’s an educator-designed, mobile learning experience that brings constantly changing play opportunities to children where they are. With rotating materials, dramatic play environments, sensory experiences, and open-ended STEAM exploration, no two visits are ever the same. The Wonder Bus is built to grow, adapt, and stay exciting and engaging for children of all ages.
